About the Event
This will be an interfaith visit with representatives from at least 6 different religions present to explore the sacred space of this Catholic Church. This visit is run by Sharing Sacred Spaces in partnership with The Rumi Forum and local congregational partners, and is part of the Interreligious Communities Project taking place in Northern Virginia. There will be 7 visits to different sacred spaces as part of this program over the course of 2023-2024. There will be 7 "experiences" in fact; not just visits. We go deep into the architectural design of each space which opens up new avenues for connecting the material and the spiritual. Members of each congregation will also share about thier worldview, spiritual journeys, and history. We then share a meal and dialogue. Join us for one visit or all of them!
As an exciting addition, we are now offering a youth track at our programs, open to visitors ages 11 and up!
Led by two youth educators and an architect, those ages 11-17 will have to chance to reflect on aspects of sacred space and architecture, learn what it is to be an architect, and explore the field through engaging activities and games.
Adults will be able to enjoy our fabulous site visits as usual, and youth and adults will be together for the tour and dinner.
In the Washington DC or Northern Virginia area? Come on over! Bring the whole family!
If you've already RSVP'ed, and you have young persons you'd like to bring, simply RSVP again with the additional number of people. Everyone is welcome, and please be sure to read and follow the etiquette for each sacred space.
